Introduction:-    

  

                         This task has been assigned by Archita ma'am as a part of our classroom activity for unit 3 or 4 : Translation Studies.The purpose of this activity is to give us hands on experience in translating a paragraph from Gujarati or Hindi fiction into English. Through this

exercise, we not only practice the skill of translation but also reflect on important

aspects such as equivalence, untranslatability, cultural gaps, and the effectiveness oftranslation tools. This blog is my response to the given task

   

1. Title of the fiction chosen:-

Nokhi matina jiv by sudha Murthy                   

2. Original paragraph(source language):-

                            હું થોડી શરમાણી. તો પણ મેં કહ્યું "ફણી, મને લાગે છે કંઈક ખૂટે છે તારામાં ! સાચું શું ને ખોટું શું તે મને ખબર નથી. એમાંય તું મોટા સાહેબની પત્ની, એટલે શું બોલવું તે મને સૂઝતું નથી, પણ આ અમારી ચપળ હોશિયાર અને સુંદર ફણી તો નથી જ."

                           I was a little shy. Still I said, "phani, I feel like there's something missing in you! I don't know what's right or wrong. you are the wiife of a big boss so I don't know what to say, but this is not our smart,  intelligent and beautiful phani.
